Fan squeal inside cabin

I've looked but can't figure out where this is coming from. I suspect it's a fan for the cabin temperature sensor(s). It's not the blower motor as the sound is unrelated to blower motor speed.

What's the P/N or name f this part? How hard to replace? I hope the dash doesn't need to come out.

Thanks!

It's the only fan in the car that I know of. I didn't know the sensors had fans? When my blower squeeled it didn't change pitch with fan speed either. It was squeel or none if it was off. Honestly, give it some squirts of WD40 or even better turbine oil.

The older 9-3's had a sensor mounted in the dash with a little fan on it. These were prone to squeaking and a little WD40 or oil would quiet it up. On thsee newer ones though there is no fan and the sensor is mounted by the dome lights. It's gotta be the blower motor, mine made noise no matter what speed it was set to.

Do you have auto climate control (ACC)? If not then you do not have a sensor, period. If yes then do you see a sensor just in front of the rear-view mirror co-located with the overhead reading lights? It looks like a little LED, but does not have a light in it and is mostly clear with a bit of red color in the center? If so you do not have a sensor fan.

I'm +1 on the blower motor. Can you confirm whether the blower motor is running when you hear the noise? Can you make a video with audio and post on here?

;ol;;ol;

I thought I knew most of this stuff, but never bothered about that little thingy near the rear view mirror. Keep learning!
Thanks Tim!
