Is valve dirty on the side of the quick-disconnect? That indicates a leak. The other side (exhaust side) is ALWAYS dirty.

 

The Saabsite is another option. Check the SAI Pump for water too, Thats a 300 buck part

 

If you threw a code twice, then you probably need a pump. It's kind of a pain to swap out, mostly due to the "quick disconnect" hoses that connect to the pump. Pull the hose from the intake side of the valve and start the car from cold and see if air is blowing out. If it is very little or none at all, you need a pump too. Saabpartonline.com was one of the cheapest I found with shipping. The pump cost me $245 total. You can call your dealer and see if they will match the price, but they probably won't. They aren't the quickest delivery, but it's not like your car won't run without it. If you have the etorx sockets and a good impact ratchet, then you can remove the starter that is in the way. Thanks for all info. Ordered part. Blew out pump per instructions in posts, and no water. Pump runs fine and strong. Plenty of pressure coming out on cold start from the pump, so I think I am lucky on pump. Inlet side of valve was a little dirty, but outlet side was definitely carboned up, and when I pulled it to inspect there was slight amount of condensation on the outlet carboned up side. Any chance that PO411 could get thrown due to gas cap not being seated or is that a different code? I have 80,000 on my 03, so guess it was due for the valve replacement anyway. Really like the car......highway still pulling close to 32-33 mpg.

 

Sound like you have the easy fix. Once you replace the vakve you should be fine. good luck.

 

Just in the process of purchasing this car from my brother and the car threw the P0411 code...the check valve is dirty and needs replaced, not sure about the pump yet. However when I was putting the hose back on the check valve I broke the "quick disconnect" clip. Anyone know where I can get one of those? I can't find one on the site I'm ordering the valve from....saabparts.net Thanks!

 

Send them (saabparts.net, attn. Dennis Elliiot) a note asking about that particular piece. They are pretty helpful, and may be able to take care of that for you. That part may not be too bad to purchase from the Stealership if you have no other options.
