I need to replace my fog lights and was looking at these xenon matching fog lights.
http://www.hoen-usa.com/fog.htm has anyone tried these? |

I put these on my 9-5 and they look at close to my Xenons as you can get.
Quite amazing so far.

Why not go with an HID upgrade? You can get them for well under $100 now and 55W HIDs produce 3-4x the lumen output of incandescents with less heat output. Of course if you intend to use the fog lights for style, not safety, you want to stick with incandescents so you don't dazzle oncoming drivers.

Not sure how lights at that level (less than 3" above the ground) can have any impact on safety.
It really wouldn't matter what you put in there, the headlights will provide much better coverage.

how hard is it to upgrade to the HID fogs?
I'm kinda looking for a quick hassle/problem free exchange... |

Quote:
2. Install H3C HID lamp into fog light 3. Connect ballast input to H3C harness 4. Connect ballast output to HID lamp 5. Tie, stick, or bolt ballast to car, leaving at least some slack in cable (to compensate for the inevitable d0uchebags who back into our cars) Including dropping the belly pan, you're looking at less than an hour total (if you have ramps, a little longer if you don't). |

In another car (not the Saab) I've driven with fogs on/headlights off so I could get through white-out conditions. Having the lights lower helped a LOT by reducing glare from the snow.

Yeah, I've done that in some bad storms too. Of course it's not possible in our cars, even if you can get the DRL's turned off, the fogs wouldn't come on without the headlights switched on.
