Characteristics / Chassis

Front-wheel drive with (31% of the weight supported by the driven wheels:

• Excellent grip and cornering characteristics, even on a slippery surface

15” wheels with high-speed tyres:

• Good mobility, particularly under wintry road conditions
• Large ground clearance

Power-assisted rack-and- pinion steering:

• Effective damping of the irregularities in the road surface.

Integral taper wheel bearings:

• Maintenance-free

Front suspension by McPherson struts secured to the steering knuckle housing:

• Simple, robust design
• Long spring travel—excellent roadholding.

Lightweight, beam type rear axle, direct-acting gas shock absorbers, low-level Panhard rod and anti-roll bar:

• No undesirable steering effects

Dual-circuit, diagonally-split brake system with large discs all round, floating calipers and optimised, asbestos-free brake pads:
